Competitive Beatability Check (% Search Volume Ranked vs. Sales Estimate)

Overview

A method for judging how strong a specific competitor really is: cross-reference what percentage of the aggregated keyword list's total search volume that competitor ranks page one for, against their estimated monthly sales.

Method

Build the aggregated keyword matrix for the niche first. For each top competitor, compute the share of that matrix's total search volume they hold page-one rank on. Competitors ranked on a lower percentage of the aggregate volume than their rivals — especially paired with a lower sales estimate — are the "beatable" ones: their listing, design, or conversion underperforms relative to the demand available to them.

Apply

Use this to decide where a new listing can realistically take rank and market share: target the demand held by the weakest-covered competitors rather than assuming the top-ranked seller overall is the one to unseat.
