Friends & Family Review Method
A policy-violating tactic on the Amazon Review Acquisition Tactics Risk Spectrum: recruiting personal contacts to purchase and review a product outside Amazon's terms.
Amazon's stated prohibition: friends/family reviews are barred because personal relationships bias authenticity — this is explicitly against policy, not a gray area.
Operational requirements the video lays out to reduce detection risk:
- Reviewer must already have $50+ in prior Amazon spend — new accounts can't leave reviews at all.
- Sever every traceable link to the seller: no shared Wi-Fi/IP, no shared shipping address, no shared surname, no shared zip code, no Facebook friendship with the seller's profile.
- Delay the review by days to weeks after delivery — reviewing immediately after purchase is itself a signal.
- The seller writes the review copy (since they know the product's features/benefits best) and has the friend/family member post it verbatim, including photos or video to lift listing conversion.
- Space reviews out over time rather than clustering them: the average sale-to-review ratio is only ~1%, so a burst of reviews (e.g. 10 sales producing 10 reviews at once) is a detectable anomaly pattern.
