Gratitude and Enjoyment as Magnetic Levers
The last two traits of Chase Hughes's CDLGE authority framework (The Five Authority Trip Wires):
- Gratitude is framed biochemically rather than morally: Hughes claims it lowers norepinephrine and adrenaline while raising GABA, producing feelings of safety, security, and confidence. In an aside to hypnotists in the audience, he adds that people with the lowest confidence/safety are the hardest to hypnotize, tying gratitude's GABA effect directly to hypnotic receptivity.
- Enjoyment is called "the most magnetic human quality" — visibly enjoying yourself draws people in without a word being said, functioning as a non-verbal social draw independent of what you say or do.
Both traits close out the CDLGE "autopsy" checklist alongside Confidence as Survivability ("I Will Be Okay"), Discipline as Prioritizing Your Future Self, and Leadership as Behavior-Generated Followership — after any failed outcome (lost sale, rejected date, failed negotiation), reviewing all five traits pinpoints where the failure occurred.
