Cerebro Filtering Protocol (Organic / Competitor Rank / Number of Competitors)

A specific filter combination applied to raw Helium 10 Cerebro output (which can return 2,600+ keywords from a Reverse ASIN Lookup (Helium 10 Cerebro)) to cut it down to a workable list:

Typically narrows the raw list to roughly 200–300 keywords, which still needs a manual pass to strip irrelevant terms and competitor brand names before use. Result seeds the Helium 10 Four-List Keyword System (Main, Related, Misspelled, Master).

Brand Name Filtering

Competitor brand names are stripped from the keyword list not just because they're irrelevant to your product, but so you don't end up spending PPC budget advertising a competitor's brand.

Example Thresholds

One worked example applies: organic match only, competitor rank ≤60, minimum 2 competitors ranking for the keyword. These thresholds exclude keywords too obscure (rank >60) or too idiosyncratic (only 1 competitor ranks) to be reliable targets, while organic-only excludes sponsored-placement noise.

Filter Order and Effect

Applied in sequence right after a reverse-ASIN pull — Match Type = Organic, then Competitor Rank <=60, then Number of Competitors >=2 — this filter set typically shrinks a raw pull of several thousand keywords down to a workable ~200-300, before any manual clean-up begins.

Amazon Recommended Rank Check

Cerebro's reverse-ASIN output includes an 'Amazon Recommended Rank' score per keyword — Amazon's own signal of how relevant that keyword actually is to the ASIN. Apply: run your own ASIN through Cerebro before launch and only pursue keywords that return a non-blank recommended rank; a blank score means Amazon doesn't consider the keyword relevant to that listing regardless of search volume, so don't build a listing or campaign around it.
