The juxtaposition technique is a prompting method for generating story premises: place two opposite or incompatible character archetypes together in a single image prompt (e.g. a punk and a sophisticated old woman, a monster and a nun, a vampire and a priest) and let the generative model invent a title, description, and narrative connection between them. The tension between the two archetypes forces a story to emerge rather than requiring the creator to author one directly.
Placing genuinely opposite characters in proximity gives the model a concrete creative constraint — it has to resolve or explain the incongruity — which tends to produce a richer, more specific premise than an open-ended 'invent a story' prompt.
A juxtaposition can seed further generation steps: expanding it into a large grid of narrative beats to see how a story arc rises over time, or condensing it into a small storyboard grid of filmable scenes.
