Named pattern for what happens when autonomy is granted before a team meets the Three Conditions for Empowerment — without coaching or right-sized problems, teams struggle, results don't appear, and leadership loses confidence. Under that stress, leaders instinctively revert from giving context and coaching back to command-and-control — described as a "gravitational force" pulling the organization back toward the old project model. The retreat to micromanagement then closes the loop: teams are stripped of the autonomy that was never properly set up in the first place, reinforcing the belief that the Product Model (vs. Roadmap Model) "doesn't work" here. Breaking the loop requires the missing ingredient — usually strategic context (see Air Sandwich (Strategic Context Gap)) or coaching — rather than abandoning autonomy altogether. Part of the Product-Model Transformation Anti-Patterns (Taxonomy) taxonomy.
