PPC-to-Organic Rank Mechanism

Amazon's organic ranking for a given search term is modeled as a relative comparison, not an absolute threshold: the algorithm evaluates a listing's click-through rate and conversion rate on that term — proven largely through PPC sales — against how other products competing for the same term perform, and ranks accordingly. This reframes PPC spend as an investment to prove strong CTR/conversion on target search terms, rather than an activity expected to be profitable on its own, in order to climb organic rank for those terms. It's the mechanism underlying Auto PPC as Launch & Keyword-Discovery Tool (Not a Profit Center) and close-match prioritization in Automatic Campaign Four-Way Split (Close Match, Loose Match, Substitutes, Complements): sales driven by closely-matched search terms count more toward proving relevance for those terms than sales from loosely-related traffic. See also Amazon A9 Algorithm for the broader ranking system this mechanism operates within.
