PRIME Product-Selection Scoring Rubric

A five-criterion rubric — Positioning, Research/reviews, In-demand, Margins, Easy to ship/make — used to score finalist product ideas head-to-head rather than picking on gut feel.

Demonstrated in Helium 10's Scale Stories as a "Scale or Fail" elimination game: three finalists (ashwagandha gummies, a Palo Santo holder bundle, tuning forks for healing) were each scored against PRIME. Supplements lost on Research (saturated competition), the Palo Santo holder lost on Easy-to-ship (breakable, high damage/return rate), and tuning forks won clean.

Functions as a late-stage validation gate, downstream of screens like Market-Size-First Product Research and 'TikTokable' Product Screening Criterion — those narrow the field, PRIME picks the winner among survivors.

Group Decision-Making Application

This episode of Helium 10's 'Scale Stories' shows PRIME used live by a panel of mentors to choose between finalist products, formalized as the "Scale or Fail" Decision Game: each finalist is voted pass/fail per PRIME category (green check = Scale, red X = Fail) rather than scored as a single aggregate, so a single failed category can eliminate an otherwise-strong candidate.
