Speed of Trust (Stephen Covey)

Stephen Covey's framework holds that trust is built from two dimensions: character (integrity, intent, honesty, congruence, motives) and capabilities (the actual results a person or system produces). Neither alone is sufficient — good intentions without delivered results, or reliable execution without honest intent, both fail to establish trust.

Simonetta Batteiger maps this onto a house metaphor: character/vision as the foundation, capabilities/results as the structure built on top. Applied to agentic AI products, an agent (or the team that designed it) must be evaluated on both axes — what it's built to value, and whether it reliably delivers on that. See The Decision Stack (Eriksson) for how vision/strategy/goals/principles operationalize the character side for agentic co-creators.
