Amazon sellers validating listing elements (main image, packaging, copy) choose between two testing paths:
Amazon's own rollout of Manager Experiments is credited with making split-testing and CTR/CVR optimization mainstream practice among sellers generally, even for sellers who ultimately choose the off-platform path for a given test. See also Competitor-Benchmarked Split Testing (vs. Self-Only Comparison) for how either path should be scoped, and Continuous Validation Across the Product Development Lifecycle for when to reach for either tool.
Because on-platform tests (e.g. Amazon Manager Experiments) expose real sales during the test, sellers behave risk-aversely — "you're also not going to gain that" upside is structurally capped relative to off-platform panel testing, independent of the tool's mechanics.
Manager Experiments only runs live-optimized roughly half of each testing month by design (see Amazon Built-in A/B Testing Tools) — a hidden cost weighed against the $50–100 typically saved by not paying for off-platform panel testing.
