Certain Amazon categories (e.g. supplements) are "gated" — a new seller can't even list a product in them without first submitting category-specific documentation, such as a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for ingestible products.
This is a hard go/no-go gate distinct from demand or competition risk: a product can pass every other filter (see PRIME Product-Selection Scoring Rubric, Market-Size-First Product Research) and still be a non-starter if the seller can't produce the required paperwork before listing. For consumable/supplement products specifically, the required compliance document is a Certificate of Analysis (COA) — e.g. proof of the absence of heavy metals — issued by the manufacturer. Secure a manufacturer able to supply a COA before attempting to get approved for a gated supplement category; without it, the listing can't clear Amazon's gating review regardless of how strong the product opportunity otherwise looks.
