Five-Layer Amazon Affiliate Ecosystem Model (Jesse Lakes)

A framework proposed by Jesse Lakes that organizes the Amazon affiliate/creator ecosystem by the creator's journey from discovery to optimization, rather than by tool type.

Layers

  1. Creator Commerce Intelligence — influencer discovery, creator connections (see Amazon Creator Connections (Influencer Affiliate Program)), seller networks, and product seeding; sellers must be discoverable here or creators won't know they exist.
  2. Demand Creation — content publishers, social creators, deal sites, and AI/programmatic content that build trust and purchase intent before Amazon ever sees the shopper.
  3. Conversion Infrastructure — CTA tools, widgets, plugins, and link management that turn creator influence into trackable clicks; if this layer breaks, attribution is lost.
  4. Tracking and Monetization Models — Amazon Associates (on- and off-site), attribution-based seller networks, and CPC/CPA alternatives that determine how traffic is credited and paid.
  5. Content Performance Optimization and Intelligence — boosting platforms, reporting, and link-health tools forming the feedback loop that tells sellers what to scale, fix, or kill.

Distinct from the Five-Layer PPC Tech Stack, which maps PPC/advertising tooling rather than the affiliate/creator ecosystem.

Apply: audit which of the five layers a brand is strong in and which have gaps, rather than evaluating affiliate tools one at a time.
