Lore
100-Day Inventory Coverage Rule
Overview
A supply-chain planning standard: hold enough inventory to cover at least 100 days of Amazon sales, because a full China-to-US sourcing cycle (production + freight + customs + FBA check-in) runs roughly 100 days. Falling below this buffer risks a stockout before the next replenishment order lands, undoing organic rank gained during launch.
Application
- Estimate expected daily sales velocity — from competitor Helium 10 X-Ray data if you're a new entrant with no sales history of your own.
- Multiply that velocity by 100 days to size the first production order.
- Feeds directly into the Inventory Budget Formula (Days × Daily Sales × Unit Cost) used to size both the dollar budget and the unit count for a launch order.
