"Is This On Strategy?" Filter

A day-to-day triage heuristic Gibson Biddle used at Netflix: when a proposal arrives — a feature idea, a partnership ask, a pitch from another team — ask only whether it is on-strategy, not whether it's individually a good idea.

Rather than re-debating each proposal's merits from scratch, the published Product Strategy itself becomes the filter. Biddle describes rejecting roughly 80-90% of incoming ideas this way, which only works because the strategy is specific enough to produce a clear yes/no answer.

Distinct from a strategy-penetration-test, which stress-tests the strategy itself before it's finalized — this filter is applied afterward, to the stream of proposals the strategy is meant to prioritize among.
