Select and Mask is Photoshop's dedicated workspace for refining a selection or layer mask's edges, opened from the Properties panel (double-click a mask thumbnail) or via Select > Select and Mask. It applies to any selection source, not just AI ones — e.g. it's just as useful after Channels-Based Sky Selection (Blue Channel Mask) as after Select Subject & Remove Background (AI Subject Isolation).
