Short Explainer/Screen-Recording Videos

Instead of scheduling a meeting to correct an executive's misperception or clarify a product point, record a short video — anywhere from about 5–10 seconds to roughly 2 minutes — showing the real picture (a screen recording, a quick walkthrough) and send it directly.

Two benefits beyond saving a meeting slot: it lets the recipient consume it asynchronously on their own time, and because it's a shareable artifact, it can get forwarded on to other stakeholders and drive alignment beyond the original recipient — a side effect a live conversation wouldn't produce.

Case study: a 2-minute video that outran the meeting it replaced

A confused new CEO's misunderstanding was resolved not with a meeting but with a roughly two-minute recorded video. The CEO then forwarded it company-wide, turning a one-off clarification into a scaling tool — other executives began asking to promote it further themselves. From Bruce McCarthy and Melissa Appel's Align; compare Pre-Recorded Demos as Shareable Artifacts, where the same recording-as-artifact effect emerged from a product demo rather than an explainer.
