"Who Is Thriving Here, and Do I Respect Them?" Gut-Check

Overview

A personal heuristic John Cutler offers for evaluating fit with an organization's culture: look at who is visibly succeeding in that environment, and ask honestly whether you respect them and the way they operate. The answer determines the next move — emulate what's rewarded, seek out and learn from those people, or conclude that the environment's version of "thriving" isn't a goal worth pursuing at all.
