A reframing technique used in Present Forward: A Five-Phase Process for Problem-Focused Strategy to turn each chosen strategic pillar (see Strategy Sprint Day 2: Problem Clustering, Reframing, and Pillar Ranking) into one-to-three 'how might we' statements — phrasing credited to PM Andrew Chen as a way to open up solution space more than a flatter 'how do we' framing would.
Roughly an hour is spent per pillar generating these statements, which are then handed directly to design/UXR as the starting brief for the Design Sprint for Strategy Pillars (Illustrative Concepts).
