Vision Communication: Medium and Cascade Method

How a Product Vision gets communicated matters almost as much as its content. SVPG favors video as the medium — its emotional storytelling carries a vision better than a deck or PR FAQ — but the medium isn't the message: a video with a tagline and slick visuals but none of the Three Core Vision Ingredients is marketing, not a vision. All-hands presentations mostly demonstrate organizational alignment, not comprehension — everyone nods, few can restate it. The more effective path is one-on-one cascade: the vision owner walks their direct reports through it, who walk theirs through it, and so on down the org. The real test of whether this worked is a spot check — pull a random engineer and ask them to explain what the vision statement actually means.
