Strategy Doc Template (Present Forward)

A five-part written structure for the strategy document produced at the end of Present Forward: A Five-Phase Process for Problem-Focused Strategy, kept to roughly 3-4 pages and deliberately excluding the roadmap (kept as a separate companion document):

  1. Broader context
  2. Key insights/analysis
  3. Strategic pillars with rationale, plus an appendix scoring table (the Day-2 ranking scores — see Strategy Sprint Day 2: Problem Clustering, Reframing, and Pillar Ranking)
  4. Winning aspiration (Newspaper Headline Exercise for a Winning Aspiration) with embedded concepts from the Design Sprint for Strategy Pillars (Illustrative Concepts)
  5. Closing alignment questions

Written solo by the PM over one to two weeks, then shared as a near-final draft with the Strategy Working Group (Cross-Functional Strategy Co-Creation Team) before it moves into the Strategy Rollout Socialization Ladder. The scoring appendix is what later lets a challenged pillar be defended on criteria rather than re-litigated from scratch.
